Videos and DVDs
Box set featuring the feature film 'I Am Cuba' and a documentary about the making of the movie. 'I Am Cuba' (1964) was directed by legendary filmmaker Mikhail Kalatozov during 1963-4. The film contains four short stories detailing the rise of the revolution in Cuba. It describes the decadence of Batista's Havana and the grinding poverty and oppression of the Cuban people. 'Siberian Mammoth' (2005) is Vincente Ferraz's documentary which unearths the truth behind why 'I Am Cuba' was rejected by Cubans and Soviets alike upon its release and shelved for more than 30 years. Through a combination of breathtaking footage from the Cuban revolution, interviews with surviving Soviet and Cuban cast and crew members, the documentary provides insights into the ideology of the Cold War, the recent history of Cuba, and the complete story behind the movie.
