Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes star in this adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy directed by Baz Luhrmann. In Verona Beach, California, the Montague and Capulet families are embroiled in a long-running feud. When Romeo Montague (DiCaprio) attends a Capulet ball in disguise, he meets Juliet Capulet (Danes). They fall in love and vow to marry but bloodshed and tragedy threaten their future together. The cast also includes John Leguizamo, Harold Perrineau Jr. and Pete Postlethwaite.
