Due to Shetland’s constant association with the sea and sailing, almost every community in the Isles has at some time hosted a regatta or established their own Boating Club. Delting Boating Club was founded in July 1921 and held the first Brae Regatta in August of that year. The club has grown as the community has grown and Busta Voe is regarded as a premier sailing venue having hosted National and International Competition as well as maintaining an extremely successful annual Regatta. The book traces the history of the Delting Boating Club from its humble beginnings following the Great War and the Spanish Flu pandemic, through to the present day with a modern Clubhouse, Marina and Caravan Park. Proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the continuation of the highly successful sail training programme operated by the Club, hopefully safeguarding the next century of sailing.
