This edited and notated story is my father's own account of his astonishingly varied life and selfless 'calling' in which he climbed to commendable heights both physically and spiritually. in the former regard he scaled some of the highest mountains in East Africa including Logenot (9,108Ft), Kianangop (12,815 ft), Point Lenana (16,354 Ft) - which is the second highest peak in the Mt Kenya range, and finally to within a few hundred feet of Kilimanjaro (19,341 ft) where a blizzard foiled his attempt at the summit. Yet my faher's far greater accomplishment was through his untiring witness to Christianity, both as a missionary in Kenya for 2 1/2 years, follwed by seventeen in the slums of Glasgow then during WW2 in North Yell, Shetland & Forres, Morayshire before returning once more to Shetland in the parish of Walls, Then, in 1950, he emigrated with his wife and family to Tasmania where he servied a further fifteen years in the parish of Kirklands/Campbell Town until his untimely death in 1965.
