This is the first account of their ships, their fates, who they were and where they came from.Over 1755 Shetland merchant mariners served in WW1, of whom some 78 were lost in action. This is the first account of these lost seamen and their ships. Note that these were at sea in the Mercantile Marine and this does not specifically include Shetland men in the RNR or the RN.
