The shaping of 19th century Aberdeenshire

Wood, Sydney1985
Books, Manuscripts
This study attempts a picture of smaller community developments and difficulties during the nineteenth century. Since inland and coastal places differ so markedly an example of each has been studied in depth. Inverurie lies at the heart of the prosperous farming district of the Garioch ; Fraserburgh clings to the exposed north east tip of the Aberdeenshire coastline. These towns indicate the importance of the twin themes of farming and fishing in the area's past and present.
